This is a society that’s driven and governed by fossil fuels. The whole foundation is built on fossil fuels, but they have issues. They are non-renewable, so they are limited, they will run out, and they are polluting the atmosphere, especially with CO2 that’s going into the direction of global warming. The amount of energy used has to be reduced but also have to focus towards more renewable forms of energy. However, just because it is renewable, it does not mean it is maintainable. As an example, wood is a remarkable form of renewable biomass energy, but if an excessive amount of wood is used, it leads to deforestation. Also, Hydropower is important but can change the natural flow of a river and that leads to change the whole ecosystem.
