Even the grown – up people I know who were before strangers to computers and reluctant to operate them are now exposed and gradually learning the basics of computer operation (particularly the software aspect). Computer has evolved basically from desktop computer to laptop/notebook computers until the latest invention of a more compact computer which is the Tablet PC. For us who are not yet familiar with Tablet PC perhaps we have questions in our mind like, what is a tablet PC? What’s with that device that makes it an in-thing or an obsession to the young ones? How does it work? Is it an in-thing only for the young ones and not for the adults? These are just few of the many questions we have with regard to this new technology. On the other hand, most Android tablet PC are varied in terms of their screen resolution but most of them are having 800*480 pixels and some are 1024*600 pixels.


The processor of Android tablet PCs are run by various model of mobile pc processor like: TI OMAP3 CORTEX A8, TCC 8900, Rockchip RK2808, Telechips TCC8900, Telechips TCC8902, ZT-180 (ARM Architecture), VIA MW8505 and may more. Most this processor has clock speed that ranges from 600MHz to 800MHz.


A usual tablet PC has a 256MB of RAM and supports an extendable memory via SD, like the Android Tablet PC Herotab RK7 that supports extended memory via SD up to 32GB.

Network Adapter:

All tablet PCs are WIFI ready and most it are installed with an 802.11b/g wireless network adapter that has a range of 100 ft to 150 ft.


Most of these tablet PCs are having a built in li-ion battery that allow us to browse the screen from 5 hours (WIFI off) to 6 hours (WIFI on). But there is one new tablet PC that has removable battery, it’s the Witstech A81E that is run by the latest Android 2.2.


This feature of a tablet PC is what makes it more versatile than laptop or notebook computer. Tablet PCs are design to be a perfect mobile companion that weighs less than 1 kilogram. (Example: the Witstech A81E Android 2.2 weighs 0.39kg).


Operating System:

There are a multiple array of mobile operating systems currently available. Currently the biggest selling mobile operating system is Symbian OS, and smaller rivals include Android, Blackberry OS, iOS and Windows Mobile. Several mobile operating systems including Android are based off Linux and UNIX.

In the 2nd Quarter of 2010, the smartphones running under Android operating system were ranked first among the smartphone OS. One of the advantages of Android OS is that it has large community of developers writing application program that broaden the functionality of the devices running with Android OS. It is estimated that there are already more or less 70,000 available applications for Android, which makes it the 2nd most popular mobile development environment and more advantage than other Operating system.
